Amazing Tulare Skatepark | Shredding Great Vert

The Tulare Skatepark is an AMAZING skatepark with tons of huge vert and some great bowls. It really is a vert riders dream skatepark. There are so many unique features that make this skatepark unlike any other. As well as a number of factors that give the Tulare Skatepark its own unique vibe. Shredding this skatepark on a longboard was a blast!

First Impressions: Tulare Skatepark

Not gonna lie… the very first impression I had when we got to the Tulare Skatepark was “woah, we are definitely in the hood.” But my first impression of the skatepark itself was “woah, this place is an unbelievable wonder of cement waves, smooth transitions, and huge vert loaded with an overwhelming array of stunning artwork!”. Ok… that might be a bit much but I really could not believe how great of a skatepark we found.

Pros: Amazing bowls and vert with a cool pump track feature and great street obstacles.

Cons: Unsafe part of town.

Know Before You Go: This is seriously an amazing skatepark, but I meant it when I said that it’s in an unsafe part of town. While we were here, we witnessed one kid get his bike stolen. And there was a strong drug/alcohol presence along with a large homeless camp in the nearby grass and bushes. We have also talked to locals who have told us they don’t skate here because of the amount of shootings on this side of town. Obviously we can’t vouch for the shootings but just a heads up. All that being said, this is an amazing skatepark and I had to skate it! We spent a few hours here, had a great time and met a few cool people but the vibe of this skatepark might be harder than others.

Riders Thoughts:

Upon entering the Tulare Skatepark, it starts with the street skating area. This consists of a large flat area at the bottom of a bunch of stairs with a few platforms and rails.

From here the cement loops around the perimeter of the skatepark along the fence. Here you’ll find a bunch of boxes and ledges.

The layout of the Tulare Skatepark is really cool and pretty unique. There is a fun pump track feature that runs around a grassy area creating a courtyard feel in the middle of the skatepark with a bunch of huge 50 foot tall palm trees!

pump track feature

This pump track feature loops around to the middle of the skatepark where you’ll find more street skating obstacles such as boxes and rails. This area also has some elevation changes which help riders maintain the momentum they gained on the pump track.

The flow of the Tulare Skatepark feels endless on a longboard because the humps and ramps in the park make it so easy to keep cruising. After leaving the street section of the skatepark, I was really able to feel the flow and start moving a little faster.

Checking Out the Bowls at Tulare Skatepark

The first bowl area is pretty shallow, but has a number of different pockets and a unique shape that allows riders to enter the bowl via a number of different entrance points and transition types. There is coping, cement ledges, roll in, and angled ramps all in this one bowl. And all of these features link together great! This is also where the artwork and graffiti really starts.

The second bowl at the Tulare Skatepark is a great 5 pocketed bowl with a very unique shape. The funny shape of this bowl really aids riders in switching the direction of lines or flow. I really enjoyed longboarding in this bowl because it has a really smooth roll in hump that you can take down in a few different directions.

The largest pocket in this bowl actually has a smooth drop in elevation making this pocket deeper than the rest and the drop really helps riders gain speed to get high on the tall wall. The flow of this bowl is fast and feels endless!

The smooth transitions and tall vert walls make this an excellent place for longboarding in a skatepark. This is some of the finest Cement Surfing conditions I have seen! Wanna see me shred this park on my longboard?! Check out the video!

The bowls in the Tulare Skatepark keep getting bigger and bigger! Bowl number three is even deeper than those first two bowls at probably 7-9 feet deep. This bowl is different but also has a really unique shape. It has a combination of a rounded square bowl and a multi-depth clover bowl. After cruising in this bowl I could really feel the line the engineers created to get high in the deep section of the bowl. Skating in this bowl was exhilarating!

The largest and final bowl in the Tulare Skatepark is one of the biggest single bowls I have ever seen! This bowl also has a very unique shape with 7+ pockets and a variety of depths and transition types. At 8-12 feet deep, these tall walls mixed with the smooth transitions are made for speed! I was stoked to see the different roll in areas because I was able to roll right in with my longboard and immediately start flying!

Aside from the roll in area, this bowl is mostly lined in coping and provides a very tall spine! The shape and size of this bowl really makes riders move fast and it was thrill to ride my longboard in. If you haven’t watched the video yet, I suggest you give it a view and see what I’m talking about!
