Hiking to Webber Falls | Amazing Waterfall in Tahoe National Forest

While we were dispersed camping near Perazzo Meadows we hiked to Webber Falls, an amazing waterfall in Tahoe National Forest. And by hiked, I mean we rock hopped and followed Little Truckee River upstream to the gorgeous pools at the base of the waterfall. Webber Falls is a tall waterfall in a steep forested canyon with several pools and great flow! Shane’s brother was in town visiting and we told him that we were going to play in the river. But we left out the fact that we would be hiking to Webber Falls so he would be surprised by the gorgeous finale. Follow us as we adventure up the river and take a swim in a pool of Webber Falls.

See it in action! Below is a quick video of our adventure hiking to Webber Falls.

Our Experience: Hiking to Webber Falls

To begin hiking to Webber Falls, we found a spot to park near the bridge and made our way through the trees to get to the water. And then the adventure began!

The river was relatively narrow and not very deep with decent rock hopping conditions. But at the start there were a lot of sections where we just walked through the water. Luckily the water was nice and refreshing. Shoes really helped keep us moving, being barefoot would have hurt and we would have been moving super slow.

Eventually, we reached a section of the river that ran along the base of a super steep, sandy hillside. We thought it was pretty unique. And this lizard seemed to like it too.

As we continued, the canyon walls on the sides of the river got steeper and more dramatic. And the rock hopping conditions stepped up their game. This section was a lot of fun, choosing routes and risking jumps.

After looking down at the rocks, planning our routes and making our jumps we finally looked up and there it was! It was no longer a secret that we were hiking to Webber Falls. It looked gorgeous tumbling down the rocky wall and falling into the pools in the steep canyon.

We made our way to the first pool and climbed the rock wall to get around it.

Then at the next pool we put our stuff down and scoped out the boulders and the depths. Once we found a good place for Shane to jump in, we all got in. It was really cold!

But once you go in the first time, the second time is always easier. So we swam around a bit and made it over to the waterfall. It was pretty cool having the pools at the base of the waterfall all to ourselves.

We could see that there were a few people at the top tier of the waterfall. And there were also slack liners doing their thing above us.

After a great time hiking to Webber Falls we decided to have lunch. We could hear the thundering of the waterfall and feel its mist as we watched the slack liners struggling above. And from there we decided to head back the way we came so we could take advantage of the refreshing water as we hiked back. This was the perfect way to spend a hot day – fun, scenic and refreshing!
