    September 23, 2022 /

When we first laid eyes on the Sierra Buttes and spotted the lookout tower, we had no idea how accessible hiking to Sierra Buttes Lookout would be! Once we got to the Gold Lake Highway area we were in completely unfamiliar territory and we had never even heard of the Sierra Buttes. But once we saw the dramatic towering mountains for the first time, we knew we had to see more! And hiking to Sierra Buttes Lookout was the perfect opportunity.

Longboarding Frazier Falls Trail | Plumas National Forest

    September 18, 2022 /

Longboarding Frazier Falls Trail was a pleasant surprise we found while dispersed camping nearby. Frazier Falls is a 176 foot tall waterfall in the Plumas National Forest of Northern California. And the trail to reach the waterfall is a 1 mile smoothly paved asphalt path. This smooth path makes for a perfect opportunity for a smooth longboard cruise deep through the forest.

Although we were just excited to find dispersed camping in the area we didn't know it but we were in for a treat! Camping near Frazier Falls ended up being so much more than just your typical free camp spot! And a great location for getting out and seeing more of this beautiful area.

Backpacking Grouse Ridge Loop | Tahoe National Forest

    August 14, 2022 /

Backpacking Grouse Ridge Loop was our first backpacking trip of the year, our first time backpacking in Tahoe National Forest and our first opportunity to backpack with Shane's brother who flew out to visit from Florida. And since you can't go wrong with loop itineraries with lots of lakes, we were excited to head out to experience a new area and make new memories. The backpacking Grouse Ridge loop itinerary that we decided upon links several different trails in the Grouse Ridge area. These trails lead past lake after lake with numerous opportunities for quick side trips to visit even more lakes!

Hiking to Webber Falls | Amazing Waterfall in Tahoe National Forest

    July 25, 2022 /

Follow us as we rock hop upstream along Little Truckee River to the gorgeous pools at the base of Webber Falls. Webber Falls is a tall waterfall in a steep forested canyon with several pools and great flow! Shane's brother was in town visiting and we told him that we were going to play in the river. But we left out the fact that we would be hiking to a waterfall so he would be surprised by the gorgeous finale.
