Hohokam Skatepark in Maricopa, Arizona

Maricopa Arizona is home to two different skateparks, the cement Copper Sky Skatepark and the modular Hohokam Skatepark. Usually a modular type of skatepark primarily targets a street style of skating, but this particular skatepark has a number of smooth transitions and some great banked turns. And it’s surprisingly good for riding a longboard in a skatepark. Hohokam Skatepark will entertain expert skaters as well as beginners.

Riders Thoughts:

The Hohokam Skatepark in Maricopa is a pretty cool skatepark, and it is surprisingly larger than the other cement Copper Sky Skatepark in the same city. This skatepark is primarily a modular ramp park situated on top a large flat cement pad. Sometimes these types of skateparks can feel cheap and can also lack creative engineering, but that is
definitely NOT the case here.

These ramps are very sturdy and much larger than most ramps in skateparks of this style. Along with large scale these ramps also provide riders with a variety of transitions. Skating around the park you can find coping, ledges, ramps, and roll-ins of different heights and difficulty levels.

There is a large vert wall area that provides riders with two large banked turns. The smooth transitions in this large vert wall area are a crucial part of the great flow in this skatepark. The large banked turns allow riders to take a fast turn in either direction to help maintain speed while continuing to cruise around the park.
