Longboarding Route 66 Near Oatman | Scenic Desert Downhill Run

    December 25, 2022 /

The iconic Route 66 is probably the most famous road in the United States, so I couldn't pass up an opportunity for longboarding Route 66 near Oatman. While in Arizona we visited the cute little town of Oatman, known for their local community of burros (donkeys). Hiking Bonita Creek Trail in Chiricahua National Monument

    December 20, 2022 /

Chiricahua National Monument is in the southeastern corner of Arizona and is full of great hiking options! The hikes explore the rugged desert terrain complimented by some really cool, interesting geology! But there is quite a bit of history in the area as well. When we first arrived at Chiricahua National Monument we stopped at the first trail/picnic area that we saw so we could look at the map and plan our adventures. And since we were parked at the trailhead we decided to start by hiking Bonita Creek Trail to Faraway Ranch and Stafford Cabin.

Camping at Indian Bread Rocks is such a treat! Tis the season to head south and follow the great weather. Some desert camping is more exciting than others but this is a spot that we were happy to stay at for two weeks. Indian Bread Rocks is a BLM area in the Dos Cabezas Mountain Wilderness with several dispersed camping spots, great desert scenery and rugged mountains of granite boulders to play on.

Hiking to O’Leary Lookout | Flagstaff, AZ

    September 6, 2021 /

Just north of Flagstaff is a super interesting landscape shaped by volcanic activity. For an excellent vast view of this volcanic landscape and to get a glimpse into the top of Sunset Crater itself, hiking to O'Leary Lookout is a must. O'Leary Lookout is just outside of Sunset Crater Volcanic National Monument so there is no entrance fee and the trail is lightly trafficked. Besides the great panoramic views and steep workout, visiting the fire lookout tower at the top is a rewarding perk of the climb!

Longboarding Island Trail in Lake Havasu City

    September 3, 2021 /

Longboarding Island Trail is a mellow cruise around an inner circuit of the island in Lake Havasu City. The paved trail is a bit short - clocking in at 3.6 miles - but it's a loop so there's no repetition of scenery like on an out and back. Unless of course you want to do a few laps. In addition to the perk of it being a loop, there are numerous areas where you can take a break from the hot desert sun and wander over to the waters edge to cool off.
