Longboarding Delano Skatepark | Large Vert and Great Flow

Delano Skatepark, aka Cecil Skatepark, is a tremendous skatepark that is bigger and better than it first looks. This skatepark scales in at about 23,400 square feet with great transitions and fast flowing lines all around. You’ll also find several stair sets and more. Riders of any age will enjoy this park and advanced riders will unlock this parks true potential. The size and transitions make this a great place for longboarding in a skatepark.

First Impressions of Delano Skatepark:

At first glance the Delano Skatepark looks a little cramped. This is probably because it is surrounded by a pretty intense 10 foot tall fence. So it kind of looks like a skatepark cage.

But once you get in the cage the skatepark really opens up and is much more spacious than expected. The Delano Skatepark has a unique shape and riders will notice the great flow of this park as soon as they walk through the gate.

Riders Thoughts:

Cecil Skatepark in Delano California is an amazing skatepark with tons of smooth transitions and tall vert walls.

I ride a longboard in the skatepark so the huge vert and smooth transitions made this a really fun skatepark for me.

Along with the great size of the vert walls this skatepark is great for longboarding in a skatepark because of the unique shape of the vert section. The vert section has a number of deep pockets and the layout of these pockets creates a very natural and fast flow for riders.

On either side of the entrance gate of the Delano skatepark is a tall pyramid with ramps. So it feels like you get to start your run from the top of a hill.

Starting on top of the hill allows riders to build a lot of speed right off the bat. And the flow of the skatepark makes it easy for riders to carry that momentum through the medium sized vert area and go all the way to the large vert section of the skatepark.

The Cecil Skatepark also provides riders with a number of different transition types including: ramps, coping, roll ins, cement and metal ledges.

variety of transition types

Having roll ins makes longboarding in a skatepark more fun because it’s hard to drop in without a tail. And being able to roll in from high can give riders a lot of speed at the beginning of their run. This skatepark has one particular roll in that is taller than the rest. It reminds me of the tall roll in at the Ripon Skatepark.

So we know this skatepark has great flow and vert for longboarding, but what about the street section? Not to worry, the Delano Skatepark has a great street section. Riders can find a bunch of street obstacles such as cement boxes, rails, a cement picnic table, as well as three stair cases.

Most of the street obstacles at the Delano Skatepark can be found along the perimeter of the park and most of the vert section is in the main bowl area of the skatepark. But there is also a very large stand alone bowl. This bowl is about 8-9 feet deep and fully lined in coping. This bowl has a pretty unique shape with four pockets and a variety of depths.

Overall, the Delano Skatepark / Cecil Skatepark is a great skatepark! Advanced riders will really enjoy any time they get to spend here. And every one else will also have a great time and the opportunity to sharpen their skills on the variety of features!
