The layout of the Applegate Skatepark provides riders with a number of obstacles that link together pretty well. This gives the skatepark some flow as riders skate around the park.

Riders will find many boxes and pyramids throughout this skatepark in Merced. Some of these obstacles have metal ledges and some have cement ledges.

There are a number of reasons this skatepark is great for street style skateboard tricks. The ledges and rails provide riders with places to grind. And the many different transition types are angled well, helping riders get in the air and link obstacles together.

This skatepark in Merced does have one small bowl. The variation of steepness and coping makes this little bowl good for beginners and those learning to drop/roll in with a skateboard.

Overall, the smaller size of the Applegate Skatepark plus all the street obstacles made this a difficult skatepark for me to ride a longboard in. But if you ride a regular skateboard and enjoy street tricks then you should really enjoy this skatepark.

Where did you get the pictures????!!!! The park has not looked that clean in years!!! And did you pay the bums to leave for the day? Who cleaned up all the trash?
When it looks like the pictures yes it’s nice, but don’t for get about the razor blades hidden on the park equipment (sick people hid them to hurt little kids) there’s needles always around the bathrooms, and the bums that sleep on every bench!
I wish Merced was the awesome place you described, but as of late…. It’s gone down hill.

We actually drove here and took all these pictures ourselves last August. We saw kids on the playground and a family playing volleyball on the volleyball courts. We didn’t see any of these horrible things you speak of but thanks for the heads up!
