Our Experience Hiking to Fish Creek Falls

Grandma came out to visit us from Indiana so we were on a quest to show her some of Colorado’s incredible beauty. We just finished up hiking Buffalo Pass Lakes Loop up in Mount Zirkel Wilderness. But since we were driving back down through town we decided to add on a quick jaunt to Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs.

The parking area is large and was busy on our visit. There were some info signs as well as restrooms.

After a quarter of a mile, we reached the overlook which is at about 7,440 feet elevation. Fish Creek Falls is a beautiful, 283 foot waterfall that tumbles down the steep rocky canyon into Fish Creek. We took lots of photos and took in the beautiful sights.

There’s not much more to say about a such a short hike, but all in all, it’s definitely a beautiful sight to see.

Came across your site while looking for dispersed camping in Mayer, AZ as I am heading there tomorrow from Prescott to do some cycling. Thanks so much for sharing your spot, I look forward to checking it out and hopefully enjoying some time there!

And then I checked your homepage and saw that you were just in Steamboat, which is where I have lived for the past seven years. I’m taking this winter off to duck the snow and ride bikes all winter. If you are still there and have snowshoes, I highly recommend checking out the trails up on Rabbit Ears Pass!

At any road, wishing you safe and happy travels!
