Palm Springs Skate Park

Spending time in Anza Borrego State Park was a lot of fun! From longboarding Yaqui Pass to finding big horn sheep in the Quartz Vein Wash. From there we stopped in El Centro and hit Sidewinder Skate Park. This was a really cool skatepark and it was a lot of fun on the longboard. Next, we’re heading to Palm Springs to check out the Palm Springs Skatepark

Palm Springs Skatepark is located inside of a larger city park with sports fields, playgrounds, and a swimming pool. To enter the skate park you have to walk through the skate shop building. Inside you must fill out a waiver form in order to skate. I thought I was going to have to pay to skate since you have to walk through the building to get to the skate park. I was happy to find out that it’s free and the rules are relaxed.

Riders Thoughts at Palm Springs Skatepark:

The Palm Springs Skate Park is a cool skate park. The skate park is very large with a bunch of ramps and boxes as well as three large bowls. The main bowl has a large quarter pipe on one side, ramps and coping for dropping in. This skate park is great for street riding but not really made for longboarding… but I rode my longboard around anyway.

Rolling into the large bowl, you can find one or two lines but the flow is interrupted by an oddly placed quarter pipe. The quarter pipe protrudes from the ramp putting an awkward wall right in the way.

There is a large snake bowl in the park too. I found this bowl to be a bit more fun on the longboard. There were some good lines and it’s possible to pump up your speed here. I thought the downside to this bowl was the fact that it was full coping all the way around, and I haven’t mastered dropping in on a longboard.

The perimeter of Palm Springs Skatepark is smooth with a number of ramps, boxes, and rails.

The last bowl is a deep bean shaped bowl. It was smooth and fast, great for short boards but again, not so much for a longboard.

Overall, this is a very nice skate park facility. The staff was friendly, good vibes and the skatepark wasn’t crowded. It’s hard to beat all the sun in the desert, it feels like summer all the time. Thanks for reading about our stop at the Alliance Skate Park!
