Jordan Skatepark in Salt Lake City

On our journey east to Nebraska we stopped at the Jordan Skatepark in Salt Lake City. But before we got to Salt Lake City we stopped and camped near the Bonneville Salt Flats. The landscape of this area is vast and surrounded by mountains in the distance. It was raining before we got to the salt flats and that made for an exciting experience.

The Bonneville Salt Flats were covered with water for as far as you could see, but the water was only an inch or two deep. I could literally walk on water for as far as I pleased.

After some exploring and a few cool pictures we decided to move on. Since we were in Salt Lake City we had to check out one of the local skate parks. We studied the map and headed to Jordan Park not knowing what to expect.

Riders Thoughts: Jordan Skatepark in Salt Lake City

There is a great atmosphere at Jordan Skatepark. And the art on the surrounding wall caught our eyes! It says “Jordan Park” written in graffiti and has images of animals, mountains, and water. I thought it was really well done.

Also, there is a rad sculpture on the other side of the park. The main bowl of Jordan Skatepark has a lot of banked turns and mounds which allow a rider to pump and easily keep their speed up. The odd shape of the bowl allows for a number lines in any directions.

The shape of the bowl also acts as a form of separation for different areas of the park. This is useful in managing skate traffic and avoiding collisions. The large bowl is also connected to another area that has a shallower bowl.

Many of the slopes and bowls at Jordan Skatepark are lined in coping. There are some areas that have smooth roll in areas (great for longboards). There is an area of spine between the bowls.

There are a variety of ramps and slopes all over the park connecting the bowls and the street sections of the park. The bowl of the park connects to a street section via a rounded slope and plateau.

From here there are a number of boxes, rails, and a few stairs for street tricks. The street section of the Jordan Skatepark has a variety of lips, ledges, and stairs. There are plenty of ramps and hills making for great approaches to hit the ledges.

Jordan Skatepark was a lot of fun to ride in. There seemed to be an endless amount of lines to take with the banked turns and rounded obstacles. This make pumping easy and fun. Some of the turns were sharp for a longboard but that’s to be expected in a skatepark.
