Pioneer Skatepark in Paso Robles

Pioneer Skatepark in Paso Robles is a great medium sized skatepark that is packed with a wide variety of obstacles. The obstacles range from street obstacles including boxes, ledges and stairs to some small vert, smooth transitions and lots of banked turns. Because this skatepark has a little bit of everything it’s great for intermediate riders. And the sizes of the obstacles at Pioneer Skatepark make it a great layout for skaters looking to strengthen their abilities and skills.

There are some other really great skateparks on the central coast of California! If you’re in the area, the San Luis Obispo Skatepark is awesome. It’s a large skatepark with tall vert, several bowls and a big open street section. The skatepark in Los Osos is also big with a large bowl, pool and a nice open layout.

First Impression of Pioneer Skatepark in Paso Robles:

From the parking lot the fence surrounding the skatepark makes the skatepark look pretty closed in and cramped, but once you walk through the gate the park opens up. There is a small pyramid box in the middle of the skateparks pretty open layout with a bunch of medium sized banked turns and smooth transitions. As soon as you enter the skatepark you notice the wide variety of obstacles.

There are plenty of ramps and a ton of ledges all over the skatepark. As you make your way around the park you see that the right side of the park has a couple sets of stairs and a continued variety of ledges and boxes, as well as a number of rails at varying heights.

There are number of banked turns and smooth transitions at the back of the skatepark. The quarter pipes lead up to the perimeter of the skatepark where you can find some humps and a skinny box around the turn.

The left side of the skatepark (from the entrance gate) is where you can find a ton of smooth transitions and banked turns inside of the snake run. I consider this snake run area to be medium sized, about 4-5 feet tall. The transitions are pretty steep and the turns can be tight causing riders to move very quickly through it.

I enjoyed surfing this side of the park while riding my longboard in the skatepark. The roll in areas are steep but the banked turns make it possible to roll in at the right angle. And the smooth transitions are great for pumping and building speed. There are so many obstacles in this skatepark which is great but causes the layout of this section of the skatepark to feel a little crammed for the amount of speed you can build up.

Overall, Pioneer Skatepark in Paso Robles is great because it has such a diversity of obstacles. Plus it has the smooth transitions and small snake run. If you’re on the central coast and you enjoy skateparks then I recommend taking the journey to Paso Robles and spending some time getting a good skate sesh in. And as I mentioned above, if you’d like to see some other great skateparks on the central coast of California then check out the San Luis Obispo Skatepark and the Los Osos Skatepark.
