As we were boondocking our way along our Nevada road trip, we found a cool opportunity for dispersed camping on an old airstrip. After living on the road for over seven years, this was a first. Some of the camp spots are tucked into the junipers while others are more open and spread out. And almost all of the spots have incredible vast, mountain views. This scenic dispersed camping area is no secret though so plan accordingly, especially on weekends.

Here you'll also find a surprising diversity of birds frequenting the reservoir and likely a few too many mosquitoes. Whether as the destination, a home base or a resupply point, Walden is a nice little town with all of the necessities.

Camping Near Bozeman – Hyalite Canyon
A quick half hour drive from Bozeman will lead you to the mouth of beautiful Hyalite Canyon. From here you'll meander along the curves of Hyalite Creek as it snakes through the pretty forested canyon. Turn onto Jeep Road and notice the numbered designated Forest Service camp sites.
