Riders Thoughts: Hyrum Skatepark
Hyrum Skatepark is fun in so many different ways! The skatepark itself is huge, so there’s plenty of room for everyone, even when it’s busy. The flow of the Hyrum skatepark is great because, one way or another, riders can find their way around every corner of the skatepark without their wheels having to leave the ground.

Checking Out the Flow Bowl
This skatepark has a bunch of fun and unique features that you won’t find in any other skatepark. My favorite part of the Hyrum Skatepark is the large flow bowl! Hunger Skateparks built this area beautifully, incorporating hips, humps, coping, and multiple levels of smooth rounded transitions which make for the ideal environment for cement surfing my longboard in a skatepark!

This flow bowl is full of fun transitions that advanced riders will love! And at the same time, these features are positioned well for not so advanced riders to try new things and gradually improve their skills.

All around the skatepark, this area especially, you will find a bunch of rock features. The city and the builders worked well together when selecting which rocks to use and how to incorporate them into the skatepark! Most of these rocks are very usable features and inspire some fun and creative riding techniques.

Street Section of the Hyrum Skatepark
From above the flow bowl you can look out and see that the transition area is only part of the skatepark. The long and wide street section of the Hyrum skatepark is equally enticing to the street riders as the transition area is to the vert riders. This view of Hyrum Skatepark with the mountain backdrop looks like a little piece of heaven.

The street area of the Hyrum skatepark is full of boxes, rails, ledges, ramps, gaps, pyramids, and even a fire hydrant!

This is definitely the street side of the skatepark, but it still has an amazing flow. All of the features can somehow or another tie into a continuous good skate line. Because of my choice of riding a longboard in a skatepark, I can appreciate the amount of smooth transitions the builders included in this side of the skatepark.
A great example of one of these smooth transitions is the rounded hump in a corner of quarter pipes. This little transition is a great feature that allows riders to really pump up their speed before airing out!

Another smooth transition in the street area is the rounded pocket in the corner of the park. This little pocket adds a splash of vert to the street side of the park.

Shred it Later – Pin it Now

The street side of the Hyrum skatepark is full of ramps, quarter pipes and walls. There are a bunch of great wall rides in this skatepark, including this long banked wall. I was determined to make it over both of these boxes/ledges in one wall ride. It took a lot of speed and a number of attempts but I did it!

Speaking of walls, there is an interesting concrete rock wall here too! This makes for a dangerous but fun downhill run!

Atop the rock wall area you will find the Hyrum Skatepark Pool. Classic pool riders will love this pool bowl because of its steep rounded walls and concrete pool coping, blue tiles and all!

The Hyrum skatepark is a must see for skatepark enthusiasts, whether you’re a street or vert rider. This park is good because there are many different sizes of features that help riders gradually improve their confidence and their techniques. I give this one 5 stars for riding a longboard in a skatepark!
