Longboarding the Rio Salado Path in Phoenix

Rio Salado Path is a great place to longboard in the Phoenix area. It is located at 641 W. Lower Buckeye Road in Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. There is a parking lot right at the start of the trail, so once you arrive, you can just grab your board and go! The trail is 3.8 miles one way making an almost 8 mile round trip distance which is perfect for a nice cruise.

When we longboarded the Rio Salado Path we were cruising at sunset and it was beautiful! This trail has a very smooth surface, great for boarding on.

The Rio Salado Path runs along the Salt River, with many great views of the river and wild life.

It was cool to see all of the colors of the plants, flowers, and cacti surrounding the path.

Another great aspect of this path are the hills. There are a handful of hills on this trail that allow you to build up some speed. The hills are not huge, but they add to the fun factor of this trail.

There are a few benches and places to chill along the path. I like the effort put in to this park. Its got a great surface to ride on and plenty of beauty to see along the way!
